Bjorn Borg got the better of old nemesis John McEnroe as he guided Team Europe to Laver Cup success over Team World.
Andy Roddick thinks players care about the Laver Cup, and that was certainly the case at the Uber Arena in Berlin.
McEnroe had led Team World to a commanding 8-4 lead after two days of the competition, but Borg’s players fought back to win 13-11.
Watching on delighted was Roger Federer, who called time on his tennis career after the 2022 Laver Cup in London.
His Team Europe side did, however, lose the tournament, with Team World also winning in 2023 for back-to-back successes.

But the hosts got back to winning ways in Germany, with Carlos Alcaraz delivering the winning points against Taylor Fritz.
The 2024 competition does, however, represent the end of an era, with team captains Borg and McEnroe stepping down from their roles.
And as per GQ Sports, Federer has presented the pair with custom watches to honour their roles as inaugural Laver Cup captains.
Inscribed on the back of the watches were the messages ‘Laver Cup Team Europe Captain 2017-2024’ and ‘Laver Cup Team World Captain 2017-2024’ for Borg and McEnroe respectively.

McEnroe and Borg have been in the roles from the very start of the Laver Cup, with the latter boasting the overall bragging rights.
Team Europe won the first four tournaments before the Team World double success, with the crown now returning to the former.
San Francisco’s Chase Center will host the team event in 2025, where Andre Agassi will look to get Team World back to winning ways.
McEnroe has tipped Agassi for Laver Cup success, although he will have to overcome new Team Europe captain Yannick Noah.
It should be another thrilling event this time next year, with many of the current stars likely to feature heavily once more.
