Iga Swiatek has been testing her level against fellow WTA players ahead of her first tournament with Francisco Roig as her coach.

Swiatek split with Wim Fissette after losing her opening match at the Miami Open, bringing an end to their 17-month coaching relationship.

The six-time Grand Slam champion has since added Roig to her team, who had previously worked with Rafael Nadal for 17 years.

Swiatek has already made changes to her game since working with Roig, and she has now put them into practice against Paula Badosa.

Iga Swiatek beat Paula Badosa in practice match ahead of the Stuttgart Open

Badosa was not even supposed to be at the Stuttgart Open this year, but the former world number two found herself on court practicing with Swiatek after receiving a wildcard.

Swiatek and Badosa have played three times on the WTA Tour before, with the Pole leading their head-to-head 2-1.

There are currently 102 ranking places between the two players, and this showed in the result of this practice match.

Swiatek was leading Badosa 6-2, 3-2, being up a break in the second set, before the practice time came to an end.

This bodes well for Swiatek, who will be hoping to win her third title at the Stuttgart Open this year.

Who will win the WTA tournament in Stuttgart in 2026?

Iga Swiatek’s career record on clay

Swiatek has won a Grand Slam title on every surface, but clay has been her most dominant surface.

The Pole has won 100 of her 115 matches on clay, with Swiatek winning 10 titles on the surface.

Four of Swiatek’s 10 clay court titles have been at the French Open, where she has only lost two matches, and she has also won four WTA 1000 titles on the dirt.

This already makes Swiatek one of the favourites for the French Open, despite relatively struggling for form as of late.

Swiatek will begin her clay court season in Stuttgart, where she will play either Laura Siegemund or Viktoriya Tomova in her opening match.
