Iga Swiatek has announced that she has split with her coach Wim Fissette following her exit from the Miami Open.

WTA number three Swiatek was among the favorites to win the tournament, but she lost her opening match to Magda Linette.

And the six-time Grand Slam champion and former world number one has now taken major action following the exit.

Swiatek has confirmed she has parted ways with Fissette, with the pair having worked together since October 2024.

Who should be Iga Swiatek’s next coach?

Sharing an image of the pair on her Instagram, Swiatek wrote: “Sometimes life and sport bring moments like this… Miami was challenging for me.

“I feel disappointment, bitterness and responsibility for my performance on the court of course. I’ve also learned a lot of important lessons and I think that’s very human.

“That being said, after many months of working together with my coach [Wim Fissette], I’ve decided to take a different path.

“It was an intense time full of challenges and many important experiences. I’m grateful for his support, experience, and everything we achieved together – including one of my biggest dreams in sport.

“Wim, thank you for this time and for the lessons I’ve learned thanks to you. I wish you all the best – both professionally and personally.

“The rest of my team remains unchanged. I know there are many questions, but I’ll let you know what’s next at the right time.

“I’m taking a moment to take care of myself, process this experience, and prepare for a new chapter. Simply, step by step, because as I often say – it’s a marathon, not a sprint.

“Thank you for your support. See you soon.”

How has Iga Swiatek performed in 2026 so far?

It’s a huge decision from Swiatek, who clearly feels she needs to go in a different direction after a big shock in Miami.

That loss to fellow Pole Linette followed her quarterfinal exit at Indian Wells, where she was beaten by Elina Svitolina.

Swiatek also lost at that stage of both the Australian Open and the Qatar Open, having started her season by winning the United Cup title with Poland.

It remains to be seen what comes next for the 24-year-old, who won three of her 25 career titles last year, including Wimbledon.

The decision to split with Fissette arrives at a very intriguing time as the clay season approaches, with Swiatek winning four of her six Grand Slam titles on the surface.

Swiatek has previously been coached by Tomasz Wiktorowski and Piotr Sierzputowski, with Fissette having represented her first non-Polish coach.
