Emma Raducanu is continuing to climb up the WTA rankings in her best season since winning the US Open.

Raducanu won the US Open in 2021 as a qualifier, but it has not been so plain sailing for the Briton since then, having struggled for form and fitness.

However, the 22-year-old has found more consistency in 2025, with Raducanu now back inside the top 30 in the WTA rankings.

Raducanu has been praised for some of her recent decisions, and now another former US Open champion has given her verdict.

Bianca Andreescu compares her US Open win to Emma Raducanu’s

Someone who knows what it is like to undergo struggles since winning their maiden Grand Slam title is Bianca Andreescu, who has dealt with many injury problems since her US Open victory in 2019.

When speaking to Tennis 365 about her US Open win, Andreescu claimed that Raducanu had it even tougher than she did.

Andreescu also spoke about the 2021 US Open champion’s recent form, referencing Raducanu’s recent defeat to Jessica Pegula.

“Coming from Britain, she’s definitely had it tougher than me,” said Andreescu. “The fame, the pressure from sponsors… that must have been a lot of pressure.

“For me, I definitely feel I could have done with a little more guidance after (US Open win) and maybe I would have done things a little differently.

“It’s great to see Emma coming back to the top and she is playing some great tennis at the moment. She was close to beating Pegula last week, so that shows the level she is playing at.”

Bianca Andreescu reveals her goals for the rest of the 2025 season

While Raducanu continues to rise up the WTA rankings, Andreescu still faces struggles and is currently the world number 177.

Andreescu returned to the WTA Tour at the China Open, but she was beaten in the first round by Anna Bondar.

As a result of her ranking, Andreescu then had to play qualifying at the Wuhan Open, but failed to do so after being beaten by Anastasia Zakharova.

Despite no longer being in the singles draw, Andreescu is still in the doubles draw with Chinese player Yue Yuan and has admitted that she is looking to use all these tournaments to prepare for the Australian Open next year.

“I love coming here,” Andreescu said about visiting China. “It’s always a fun experience and a little different than what we are used to over the course of the year.

“The food here is always amazing and we are already looking forward to what comes next. I’m using these tournaments as a training block for Australia and my aim is to try and qualify for the Australian Open in January.

“That won’t be easy, but I’m happy to be back on court and competing again. I kinda know I will be back competing at the top again. It’s just a matter of time.”

Andreescu will play doubles in Wuhan with Yuan, before heading to Japan to play qualifying in Osaka.
