The Miami Open could have a real problem on their hands at this year’s tournament regarding the weather.

Following Indian Wells, where Aryna Sabalenka and Jannik Sinner won the singles titles, the Miami Open is the second half of the sunshine double.

The Miami Open was won by Sabalenka and Jakub Mensik last year, but the tournament is currently under real threat.

After the first day’s play was cancelled due to rain, the weather forecast looks set to be a concern throughout the tournament.

Although there are 10 match courts at the Hard Rock Stadium complex, which has been the home of the Miami Open since 2019, none of these have roofs and therefore if it rains then play will be unable to take place until the courts are dried again.

The tournament has tried to combat this for the second day of qualifying, with play being brought forward an hour earlier to an 11am start instead.
