Emma Raducanu’s woes continue as she suffered an opening round defeat at Indian Wells.

The 22-year-old has struggled to find any consistency since her stunning US Open title victory in 2021.

This is the case both on and off the court, as she has been with numerous coaches following her triumph in New York.

Despite being very happy to compete at Indian Wells before the event, Emma Raducanu‘s campaign came to an early end.

Emma Raducanu leads list of Grand Slam winners with the worst record at WTA 1000 events

Raducanu took to centre court at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden to take on Japan’s Moyuka Uchijima.

In blustery conditions, Raducanu won less than 50% of points behind her first and second serve and she succumbed to a 3-6, 2-6 defeat.

This was Raducanu’s sixth loss in seven matches and according to Opta Ace, Raducanu now has won just 11 of her 26 matches at WTA 1000 level.

This gives her a win percentage of just 42.3%, which is the lowest among all former Grand Slam champions at this level.

Who are the other Grand Slam champions with the worst win percentage at WTA 1000 level?

Francesca Schiavone

Francesca Schiavone stunned the tennis world when claimed the French Open title in 2010.

Seeded 17th, she defeated Li Na, and three top 10 players on the way to winning the biggest championship of her career.

But at WTA 1000 level, the italian managed to win just 42.4% of her matches, but she has now been overtaken by Raducanu for the lowest percentage.

Sofia Kenin

Kenin kicked off the new decade with a surprising victory at the 2020 Australian Open.

She beat three Grand Slam champions on the way to the title and she reached the French Open final later in the year.

The American has struggled since then and has won just 51.3% at WTA 1000 level, leaving her with the third lowest win percentage.

SIoane Stephens

One of the most well received Grand Slam wins in recent memory came in 2017 when Sloane Stephens captured the US Open title.

She defeated her compatriot Madison Keys to claim the title and she came close to winning a second major in 2018, but was beaten by the now retired Simona Halep at the French Open.

Though she won a WTA 1000 title in Miami back in 2018, Stephens’s win percentage at these events is just 53.8%, the fourth lowest in the game.

Jelena Ostapenko

Jelena Ostapenko is one of the most destructive players on the WTA Tour.

This was proven when she won the 2017 French Open at just 20 years of age, beating the likes of Halep and Caroline Wozniacki along the way.

But her aggressive and powerful game is an inconsistent one, and her win percentage of just 54.7% at WTA 1000 events illustrates this.

The Latvian has one WTA 1000 title to her name, which she claimed at the 2022 Dubai Tennis Championships

She was close to claiming a second in 2025 as she reached the Qatar Open final, but she came up short against Amanda Anisimova.
