Tennis fans believe they know who should become Stefanos Tsitsipas’ new coach.

Following the shocking comments the Greek player made about his father and coach Apostolos Tsitsipas on Thursday, the 26-year-old announced their partnership was over just 24 hours later.

The cracks appeared to be showing following Tsitsipas’ straight sets defeat to veteran Kei Nishikori at the Canadian Open.

He has now taken a big step in his career by opting to end his father’s role as his coach and viewers already think they know of the perfect man to guide Tsitsipas to more success.

What do tennis fans think should become Stefanos Tsitsipas’ new coach?

Stefanos Tsitsipas posted a lengthy message on social media platform X announcing his father was no longer going to be his coach.

Part of his message read: “It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that my co-operation with my father as a coach has come to an end. I prefer to keep my father in his role as a father, and only as a father.”

Following the news, fans think six-time Grand Slam Boris Becker should replace Apostolos as the world number 11’s new coach, given his success with Novak Djokovic from 2013 to 2016 when he won six Grand Slams and 14 Masters 1000 titles.

X user @SachGPT23 said: “Prime Tsitsipas loading…. GET BECKER ON HIS TEAM NOW, while @CharlieLTFD28 added: “I think Tsitsipas needs someone like Becker.”

@RehanLarik urged Tsitsipas to get in touch with Becker, saying: “Tsitsipas made the absolutely right call! Now all he needs to do is hire a good coach! Contact Boris Becker.”

@seppy1011 said: “I think he needs a little help from Boris Becker,” and @paul_sparsh wrote: “He needs the magic only Boris Becker can conjure.”

What sparked Stefanos Tsitsipas’ decision to sack his father as his coach?

Tsitsipas has had a below-par season in 2024 and has slipped out of the ATP’s top 10 as a result.

Tsitsipas failed to win a medal at the Olympic Games and he seemed to hit boiling point following a 6-4, 6-4 defeat to Nishikori.

Tsitsipas made some astonishing comments about his father, who is now no longer his coach. “I need and I deserve a coach that listens to me and hears my feedback as a player,” he said post-match.

“My father hasn’t been very smart or very good at handling those situations, it’s not the first time he has done that. I’m really disappointed in him. I really don’t know right now if I’d consider any changes, but I’m really disappointed.”

With the Cincinnati Masters and US Open just around the corner, Tsitsipas is without a coach and it could not have come at a worse time for the two-time Grand Slam finalist.
