Taylor Fritz has picked up where he left off at the Olympics with his first round win at the Montreal Open.
Coco Gauff reacted as Fritz won Olympic bronze playing alongside compatriot Tommy Paul in the men’s doubles.
Team USA was full of star names at the Olympics, but Fritz has now turned his attention to Canada after leaving France.
And he is already into the second round of the ATP Masters 1,000 tournament, beating Mariano Navone 6-4, 6-1.
The ninth seed now takes on fellow American Sebastian Korda in round two, with the latter having led Vasek Pospisil 2-1 before his retirement due to injury.

Taylor Fritz makes ‘crazy’ claim at the Montreal Open
Fritz’s win may seem rather straightforward on paper, but the American has now revealed it wasn’t all fun and games in Montreal.
Debate has been going on about the pace and bounce of the balls being used, with Fritz telling Tennis Channel: “I am hitting some backhands and I am hitting some normal and then I randomly hit one to the fence clean.
“It’s so crazy. I don’t know how or why it’s happening. I kind of just have to be a bit easier and have to accept that everyone is making more mistakes.
“The balls are really hard to control. I just need to take care of what I can take care of, I felt like I served really well and hit my forehand well out there today.”
Olympics bronze will fill Taylor Fritz with confidence
Fritz reached a career-high ranking of number five last February, but the 26-year-old has since slipped to 13th place.
He has, however, been enjoying his tennis lately, with two titles this year, while he will undoubtedly gain plenty of confidence from his Olympics bronze.

It will have been a very proud moment for Fritz and Paul, with the latter having also made it into the second round in Montreal.
The duo performed admirably in Paris, having gone head to head at the Delray Beach Open earlier this year.
Fritz came out on top back then, with Paul certain to be wanting to enact revenge on his recent doubles partner as soon as possible.
