Taylor Fritz has enjoyed a mixed bag of results during the early stages of his 2025 season.
The American world number four began the year in fine form, as Fritz helped Team USA win the United Cup.
Traveling to Melbourne, Fritz lost in the third round of the Australian Open to veteran Frenchman Gael Monfils in four sets, 6-3, 5-7, 6-7, 4-6.

Fritz then returned home for two ATP tournaments in the United States as he looked to get back on track.
At the Dallas Open, Fritz lost in the second round to Denis Shapovalov, the Canadian star who went on to win the tournament.
In Delray Beach, Fritz won his opening match against China’s Yunchaokete Bu before falling to Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the quarter-finals.
Ahead of his return to tennis in Acapulco next week, Fritz has revealed who he thinks is his biggest rival on tour.
Taylor Fritz names Alexander Zverev as his biggest rival ahead of Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz
Appearing in a video for the ATP Tour, where players were asked who they think their biggest rival will be in 2025, Fritz gave an interesting answer.
“I think I’m going to stick to current trends and say the rivalry this year will probably continue to be me and [Alexander] Zverev,” he said.
“We’ve just played each other a lot recently.
“I feel like [Jannik] Sinner and Carlos [Alcaraz] have their kind of rivalry going, so I don’t want to say either one of them even though I might end up playing them a lot.
“But I’ve just played Sascha a ton, and I kind of just see us continuing to play each other a lot so that’s why I went with Sascha.”

The American then made a bold claim about his rivalry with Zverev, which some may disagree with.
“People care about Alcaraz-Sinner, I feel like people care more about Fritz, Zverev,” said Fritz.
“I feel like that’s the only right answer.”
One fan in the comments certainly disagreed with Fritz, as they made their feelings heard.
“No, people don’t care about Fritz-Zverev,” they said.

One fan suggested that Fritz only picked Zverev as his biggest rival thanks to his recent success against the German.
“Fritz picking Zverev is the absolute roast, knowing he’s grilling him every time,” they said.
“Zverev can only dream of beating Fritz in a Slam,” added another.

When could Taylor Fritz and Alexander Zverev play each other next?
Zverev will likely look to exact revenge on Fritz when the pair face off next on the ATP Tour.
They could do so next week in Mexico, as the pair enter the Acapulco ATP 500 event as the top two seeds.
