Coco Gauff was full of praise for her United Cup teammate Taylor Fritz.

The 20-year-old has been in scintillating form for her country, and has yet to drop a set during what is her first appearance at the team tournament.

She has helped put United States reach the United Cup final for the first time since they claimed the title in 2023.

Gauff has been backed up impressively by Taylor Fritz, who is coming off a superb 2024 where he reached a career-high ranking of number four and made his first Grand Slam final.

What did Coco Gauff say about Taylor Fritz at the United Cup?

Coco Gauff and Fritz are Team USA’s top ranked players and they have lived up to those titles at the United Cup.

The ATP Tour’s World number four has lost just one singles match in the tournament, while Gauff is currently undefeated.

The pair also teamed up in mixed doubles against Canada and Croatia, and won both matches. Having spent some time alongside Fritz at the Paris Olympics and now the United Cup, Gauff made a positive prediction about the 2024 US Open and ATP Finals runner-up.

“Taylor is a great player and he has one of the best mindsets on tour I think, and I don’t take that lightly,” Gauff said on court after beating Karolina Muchova.

“But after spending some time with him at the Olympics on the mixed doubles court and then today and the past week I think this is just the beginning.”

Coco Gauff shares what it is like being on USA’s United Cup team

Gauff has expressed her love for competing in team tournaments hence her decision to start the 2025 season at the United Cup.

The World number three enjoys representing her country along with her teammates and the more relaxed nature of team events compared to regular WTA tournaments.

After defeating Muchova Gauff commented on the chemistry within Team USA, with a special mention for World number 11 Danielle Collins.

“Danielle, she’s pretty young, I’m surprised she hasn’t done some twerking yet today, I had to tell her not to do that,” Gauff said.

“We have great team vibes, escape rooms. We haven’t done a team TikTok yet so maybe today or tomorrow we’ll do it.”
