Tennis fans were left shocked by the power loss at the Madrid Open, which resulted in all matches being cancelled on the day.
The 2025 Madrid Open plans to resume on Tuesday, with the men’s players involved in the ATP Masters 1000 event and the women in the WTA 1000 tournament.
Hoping to return to action early is Australian ace Alex de Minaur, who meets Denis Shapovalov in the third round.
And American star Taylor Fritz earned a 300th career win at the Madrid Open and is already into the last 16, with the third seed taking on Casper Ruud.

De Minaur meanwhile wrote: “Don’t mind this off the grid thing. On the 3rd walk off the day and finally got some service to check on the rest of the world.”
His fiancee and fellow professional Katie Boulter was, however, less impressed, replying: “Imagine blaming a country blackout for not texting me back all day. Elite [red flag] behaviour.”
