Taylor Fritz had fortune on his side in his latest Madrid Open match, with his opponent Benjamin Bonzi retiring hurt during their clash.

Fritz missed the Monte Carlo Masters with injury, with his most recent appearance before Madrid coming in Miami.

The American reached the semi-finals of the Miami Open this time last month, losing to eventual champion Jakub Mensik.

But Fritz is back in action at the Madrid Open and back to winning ways, having won his opener against Christopher O’Connell.

Handed a bye in round one of the ATP Masters 1000 event, he beat the Australian 6-1, 6-4 before Bonzi retired hurt in their round three meeting.

But he was handed the tricky task of picking his three most memorable wins for Tennis TV, with Fritz kicking that list off with his maiden title at Eastbourne in 2019.

He then opted to pick his 2024 US Open semi-final triumph, and finally his fantastic Indian Wells title in 2022.

Fritz certainly chose well from a very long list, with compatriot Sam Querrey having been his victim at Eastbourne back in 2019.

Another American in Frances Tiafoe was overcome in that 2024 US Open semi-final, with legendary figure Rafael Nadal beaten for the Indian Wells trophy.
