Mirra Andreeva has continued her superb story at WTA 1000 events, having just reached the Madrid Open quarter-finals.

Andreeva finds it difficult playing against her sister Erika Andreeva, who she beat in Stuttgart earlier this month.

The former is now focusing her efforts on success at the Madrid Open, with Coco Gauff up next for the Russian.

Andreeva overcame Marie Bouzkova in her opening match at the WTA 1000 tournament, before beating Magdalena Frech.

The seventh seed then overcame Yuliia Starodubtseva to set up her last eight meeting with fourth seed Gauff.

Mirra Andreeva reaches multiple Madrid Open quarter-finals

Andreeva is currently ranked seventh in the world, having won back-to-back WTA 1000 events in Dubai and at Indian Wells earlier this season.

And her latest success has helped create tennis history, with Andreeva now the youngest WTA player to reach multiple quarter-finals in Madrid.

That is according to Tennis Channel, with the 17-year-old Russian reaching that stage this year and last year.

Andreeva will certainly be up against it against Gauff, who herself has just reached a first Madrid Open quarter-final.

The 21-year-old American is ranked fourth in the world, and just knocked out Belinda Bencic in their round of 16 tie.

But Andreeva will be full of confidence, having also just become the youngest player to register 10 wins at a single WTA 1000 event since 2009, as per The Tennis Letter.

Her highly anticipated encounter with Gauff has been scheduled for Tuesday, the same day Andreeva will be celebrating her 18th birthday.

She has enjoyed a stunning rise in recent times, with the teenager having climbed as high as sixth in the WTA rankings.

And given her ability and with coach Conchita Martinez by her side, there is no telling just how much success the Russian can go on to enjoy.
