Wimbledon is officially underway as the top contenders look to make their way closer to the prestigious title.
Madison Keys and Coco Gauff are two top Wimbledon contenders this year, having already won the Australian Open and Roland Garros, respectively.
Other big names including Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina are also favoured for the Wimbledon title.
However, the former coach of Serena and Venus Williams, Rick Macci, has named another player that he believes could be in with a shout of upsetting the odds.

Rick Macci believes Amanda Anisimova has a chance to win Wimbledon this year
Amanda Anisimova is that player, and she couldn’t have gotten off to a better start after beating world number 33 Yulia Putintseva, 6-0 6-0, in just 43 minutes.
The American has produced some impressive results on grass this year, with Anisimova reaching the Queen’s final.
It has been an upward trajectory throughout the 2025 season for Anisimova, who won the Qatar Open as the biggest title of her career so far and is currently at a career-high ranking of world number 12.
The aforementioned Macci, who has coached Wimbledon champions including Serena and Venus Williams, as well as Maria Sharapova, posted on social media to suggest that Anisimova has the game to join those players.
He wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter), “Amanda hits the ball so clean and gets more value on the green. She can do damage in the draw and has the firepower on grass to win it all. The key is mentally if she can really believe she can achieve.”
Amanda Anisimova’s potential draw to the Wimbledon title
Anisimova achieved her best result at Wimbledon in 2022, when she reached the quarter-finals before losing to Simona Halep.
Some of the potential obstacles for Anisimova surpassing that previous best include 2024 finalist Jasmine Paolini, Olympic champion Qinwen Zheng and Beatriz Haddad Maia.
If Anisimova is to reach the semi-finals of Wimbledon for the first time she could play world number one Aryna Sabalenka, who she actually has a winning record against.
| Wimbledon 2025 | Amanda Anisimova’s Potential Draw |
| First Round | Beat Yulia Putintseva, 6-0 6-0 |
| Second Round | Renata Zarazua |
| Third Round | Beatriz Haddad Maia (21)/Dalma Galfi |
| Fourth Round | Jasmine Paolini (4)/Linda Noskova (30)/Eva Lys/Kamila Rakhimova |
| Quarter-final | Qinwen Zheng (5)/Diana Shnaider (12)/Ashlyn Krueger (31)/Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova |
| Semi-final | Aryna Sabalenka (1)/Madison Keys (6)/Elina Svitolina (14)/Donna Vekic (22) |
| Final | Coco Gauff (2)/Jessica Pegula (3)/Mirra Andreeva (7)/Iga Swiatek (8) |
Before Anisimova can look that far ahead, she will need to focus on her next opponent Renata Zarazua.
Anisimova has never lost to her Mexican opponent in their two previous meetings, and will look to continue that when they play at Wimbledon on Wednesday, July 2.
