Serena and Venus Williams are two of the greatest players of all time on the WTA Tour.

After winning a record 23 Grand Slam titles in her career, Serena retired at the US Open in 2022.

Despite being the older sister at 44 years old, Venus Williams is yet to officially retire from tennis, but has not competed in over a year.

Now their childhood coach Rick Macci has made a claim about how different Venus’ career could have been without Serena.

Rick Macci predicts how many Grand Slams Venus Williams would have won if Serena did not play

Serena Williams is often called the greatest of all time, having won more major singles titles than any other woman in the Open Era.

The player to get the most victories over Serena in history was Venus, who won seven Grand Slam singles titles herself.

While Venus is one of the most successful women’s tennis players in history, the aforementioned Macci believes that she could have won more than 20 Grand Slams if Serena was not around.

He wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter), “Played 31 times. Serena 19. Venus 12. Nobody beat the Goat more than VEE.

“Can always play the WHAT IF CARD but WHAT IF there was no Serena? 100% VW hanging out with more than 20 Slams. Vee transcended the game with her athletic ability.”

How many times did Venus Williams lose to Serena Williams at a Grand Slam?

Serena and Venus played each other a total of 31 times, and 16 of those meetings were at Grand Slam tournaments.

Despite Venus winning the first three of their Grand Slam matches, including the 2001 US Open final, Serena won 11 of their 16 matches at majors.

This includes six of their eight meetings at Grand Slam tournaments, including Serena beating Venus at the 2017 Australian Open.
