Holger Rune has now been sidelined for nearly four months with an Achilles injury.

Rune broke the proximal part of his Achilles during a semifinal matchup at the Stockholm Open in October.

The Dane was forced to shut his 2025 season down and quickly underwent successful surgery following the injury.

He has since been issuing updates on his recovery, and recently, Rune showcased himself strengthening his legs on social media as he continues to prepare for a return to tour-level competition.

In his absence from tennis, former Wimbledon champion Richard Krajicek offered the 22-year-old some advice.

Richard Krajicek sends message to Holger Rune during his recovery

In an interview with Bolavip, “I actually have one piece of advice for him, which might be the most important one. During his injury, he has to watch a lot of tennis.

“I know he might suffer doing it, but he has to watch a lot of videos, especially of himself, Alcaraz and Sinner.

“He needs to analyse what they are doing and how he can do it. This is not about technique, because he is already so technically gifted, but it is about strategy on the court.

“That helped me a lot mentally. I was trying to visualise myself doing what they did.”

Richard Krajicek believes Holger Rune can win Grand Slams

Despite Rune suffering an injury that has ultimately derailed the career of many athletes, Krajicek believes he can still compete for the biggest prizes in tennis.

The Dutchman said: “It is not going to be any problem at all for him to come back into the top five and win Grand Slams.

“He has the level, and of course, it will take a little bit of time, but Holger is an incredibly hard worker, so for me, that is not a problem for him at all.”

Rune has only ever gone as far as the quarterfinals at Grand Slams, a result he has achieved on three separate occasions.

He made the last eight at Roland Garros in 2022 and 2023, and also at Wimbledon in 2023.
