Jannik Sinner has secured a maiden Wimbledon title in style, defeating Carlos Alcaraz 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 in a thrilling final.
Alcaraz has congratulated Sinner on his victory, with the duo having battled it out for three hours and four minutes.
The Wimbledon crowd was treated to the latest edition of the intriguing rivalry between the ATP pair, which now sits at 8-5 in favour of Alcaraz.
Sinner has now ended a five-match losing streak to his rival, and needs just the French Open title to complete the career Grand Slam.
His Grand Slam final record now sits at 4-1, with Alcaraz’s sitting at 5-1 after his heartbreaking Wimbledon final defeat.

The Spaniard had won each of the last two Wimbledon finals before this year, beating Novak Djokovic on both occasions.
And he has now received a message from tennis legend Rafael Nadal following his loss, with the Spanish icon also messaging champion Sinner.
Translated to English, he wrote in Italian and Spanish on X: “Congratulations Jannik Sinner on your first Wimbledon trophy! Special moments!
“I know it won’t be an easy day, but… congratulations Carlos Alcaraz on another new Grand Slam final and for the great season you’re having!”
What was Rafael Nadal’s record in Wimbledon finals?
Nadal certainly knows what it took to achieve stunning Grand Slam success, and that included triumphing at Wimbledon.
He did so on two occasions throughout his phenomenal career, lifting the prestigious trophy in 2008 and 2010, along with losing three finals.

Nadal overcame fellow legend Roger Federer in a five-set thriller in the final of the former, before beating Tomas Berdych in three sets in the final of the latter.
It is, however, Federer who remains very much the man to beat at the All England Club, with the Swiss star boasting a record eight Wimbledon titles.
Sinner and Alcaraz have a great relationship off the court, but their rivalry is certain to continue on the court for many years to come.
But whether either can surpass Federer’s fantastic Wimbledon record remains to be seen, while seven-time champion Djokovic may not have given up just yet after reaching this year’s semifinals.
