Searching for redemption at Wimbledon, Jannik Sinner took on Carlos Alcaraz in a Roland Garros rematch.
Just 35 days on from Sinner and Alcaraz’s legendary French Open final, the pair took to the court for another Grand Slam final.
The Italian was desperate to avoid another defeat, although things didn’t look great after the first set, as Alcaraz led 6-4.

He wasn’t prepared to let the opportunity slip through his fingers, however, as he fought back to win in four sets, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4.
Picking up his first Wimbledon title with a win over his closest rival, Sinner shared his thoughts on Alcaraz during the post-match ceremonies.
Jannik Sinner says he has an ‘amazing relationship’ with Carlos Alcaraz after Wimbledon final
During his post-match speech, Sinner was quick to thank the 22-year-old, who played his part in a gripping final.
“I would like to start with Carlos [Alcaraz], an amazing tournament, but mostly thank you for the player you are,” he said.
“It’s always difficult to play against you, but we have an amazing relationship off the court and on the court we try to build up, and for doing that we need the best teams in the world, you also have the best team, so keep going and keep pushing.
“You are going to hold this many times, and you already have two!”

The world number one proceeded to share some kind words with his family, who supported him throughout the tournament.
“It’s so special because seeing my parents here, my brother, my whole team. It’s amazing,” said Sinner.
“Actually a special thanks to my brother because there is no Formula One race this weekend, that’s why he is here.”
Sinner then explained how the loss in Paris affected him, and how he managed to recover within such a short period to clinch the Wimbledon title.
“I had a very tough loss in Paris, but at the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter how you win or you lose important tournaments, you just have to understand what you did wrong and work on that,” he said.
“That’s what we did. We tried to accept the loss and keep working, and this is for sure one of the reasons that I hold this trophy here.
“I am so happy I am healthy and have great people around me, which is the most important part, and having this trophy with me means a lot.”
With the French Open final defeat on his mind, Sinner was proud of his ability to hold his nerve during the final game.
“I mean, the last game, actually, I served very well, so I am happy about that,” he said.
“I had some tough moments here on this side of the game before, but best of five, they can be so crucial, every moment can change the match, so I am very happy I held my nerves and it’s an amazing feeling.”
Securing the win, Sinner may well have turned the tide in his already legendary rivalry with Alcaraz.
Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz’s head-to-head record
Heading into Sunday’s final, Sinner had lost five in a row against Alcaraz, as the Spaniard took control of their ATP Tour rivalry.
Toughing out the win with one of the best performances of his entire career, Sinner took a chunk out of Alcaraz’s head-to-head advantage, and now trails 5-8.
