Qinwen Zheng is not a player who frequently plays doubles at either Grand Slams or on the WTA Tour.
Zheng does not have many friends on the tennis circuit, something that she previously admitted was a conscious decision she chose to make herself.
The Olympic champion has sometimes received criticism for her nature, with Emma Navarro calling Zheng out last year.
Despite not having many close relationships on the WTA Tour, Zheng has named an ATP player that she would like to play doubles with.
Qinwen Zheng says she would like Jack Draper as a doubles partner
In quick fire question and answer game with the JW Marriot Hotel, where players were staying for the Miami Open, the likes of Zheng, Carlos Alcaraz, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Alexander Zverev, Belinda Bencic and Tomas Martin Etcheverry all took part.
One of the questions brought to these players related to who they would pick as a celebrity doubles partner.
In response, Alcaraz picked footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, while other players named actors, with Auger-Aliassime choosing Denzel Washington, Zverev naming Kevin Hart, Bencic selecting Liam Hemsworth, and Etcheverry chose his brother Chris Hemsworth.
However, Zheng decided to stick with her tennis roots and said that she would like to play with Indian Wells champion Jack Draper.
Since becoming a senior player, Zheng has only played three official doubles matches on the WTA Tour.
Two of these came at the United Cup with her compatriot Zhizhen Zhang, and Zheng also recently playing the Indian Wells mixed doubles exhibition alongside Frances Tiafoe.
If Zheng is to make the collaboration with Draper become reality then the US Open could be the place to do it.
Which players have expressed interest in US Open mixed doubles?
The US Open came under scrutiny back in February, after they announced that they would be overhauling the mixed doubles competition.
With these changes to the competition, it means that the event will now take place over just two days and in the week before the main draw of singles commences.
There are only 16 teams in this new mixed doubles format, with half of those being given to players based off their singles ranking.
As a result, this has prompted interest from players who have not previously played much doubles including Taylor Fritz, who received backlash for this.
Fritz requested a WTA player to partner him already, and he is not the only big name to express his interest in the revamped event.
After the news of the mixed doubles change, world number one Aryna Sabalenka also said she wanted to play later this year.
The controversial US Open mixed doubles event will take place on August 19-20.
