Taylor Fritz knows exactly who he wants to play mixed doubles with at the US Open.

The competition is now set to take place in the week before the Grand Slam officially commences with a smaller field and shorter sets in the opening rounds.

The 27-year-old is one of those who welcomes the US Open mixed doubles format change and expressed his desire to compete in the tournament.

Should the American number one take to the court at Flushing Meadows, it is likely to be alongside one of the WTA Tour’s top players.

Taylor Fritz wants to play mixed doubles at the US Open with Elena Rybakina

There are many special pairings that fans could see at the new US Open mixed doubles event.

Even retired players could make an appearance, with Andy Roddick previously mentioning Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal as players who could compete.

Taylor Fritz says he wants to play and he wants his partner to be 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.

They certainly have chemistry on court after they won the Eisenhower Cup, which is played under the Tie Break Tens format. Following their victory Fritz put his offer out there to the WTA’s World number seven.

“I just asked Elena if she wants to play mixed at the US Open, so hopefully she says yes,” Fritz told Tennis Channel, and he was pleased with the Kazak player’s response. “Hopefully we’ll play,” Rybakina said.

Fritz and Ryabkina were on the page as they outlasted the field to win the Eisenhower Cup ahead of the Indian Wells Masters, an event both players have won.

They began the competition by beating the duo of Daniil Medvedev and Qatar Open winner Amanda Anisimova, before overcoming defending champions Emma Navarro and Ben Shelton.

In the final, Fritz and Rybakina produced a dominant display to defeat Tommy Paul and Australian Open winner Madison Keys to take the title.

“It’s really special. I’m glad I was lucky to play here,” Rybakina said. “Thanks to my partner of course and everyone who came to watch. It’s a great event. Super happy to be a winner.”

Fritz added: “It’s awesome. You come here to try and win it. It was super exciting to play with Elena. She played great. Great to start the week off at home.”
