Jannik Sinner is a champion on the ATP Tour once more after winning the final of the ATP Finals against Carlos Alcaraz.

Sinner defeated Alcaraz 7-6(7-4), 7-5 on home soil in Torino, Italy, successfully defending his title at the ATP Finals.

Alcaraz was really impressed by Sinner in their final of the season-ending event on the ATP Tour, where the Italian was the second seed.

The Spaniard was the top seed, although Alcaraz labelled Sinner the favorite for the latest encounter between the duo.

Patrick Mouratoglou makes ‘completely insane’ Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner claim

Even with the defeat, Alcaraz will end the year as the world number one, closely followed by Sinner in second.

And their rankings have blown away tennis coach Patrick Mouratoglou, who said on his Instagram: “Carlos ends the season number one in the world.

“It’s deserved, for sure, but it could have also been Jannik. Those guys are so close, they won most of the titles when they played the tournaments.

“The second thing that is the most important I think, is more to show how better than anyone else they are.

“If you look at number three in the world, which is Sascha Zverev, the difference of points between them and Zverev is as big as the difference of points between Zverev and number 1000 in the world, which is completely insane.

“You know, it’s the end of the year, there has to be a world number one. Again they are so close, it could have been one or the other one. It’s Carlos, congrats to Carlos.”

Insane truly is the word to describe the pair and their feats this season, with the duo having been a class above the rest.

They have blown away the rest of the ATP Tour in 2025, with their success particularly evident at Grand Slam level.

Along with their dominance at regular events, Sinner and Alcaraz combined to win each of the four major tournaments this season.

And very worryingly for the other players, that was the exact same situation last season, and it very well could be in 2026 too.
