Patrick Mouratoglou has given his verdict on Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz’s serves.
There are constantly comparisons between Sinner and Alcaraz, having shared the last eight Grand Slam titles between each other.
This includes playing one another in the past three major finals, the most recent of those when Alcaraz beat Sinner at the US Open.
Mouratoglou has coached the likes of Naomi Osaka and Serena Williams, both of whom are big servers, and now he has revealed who he thinks has the best serve out of Sinner and Alcaraz.

Patrick Mouratoglou explains why he thinks Carlos Alcaraz has a better serve than Jannik Sinner
From that aforementioned US Open final, Sinner was told he made a big error on serve against Alcaraz which contributed to his defeat.
While Mouratoglou did not explicitly mention that match, he did claim that he thinks Alcaraz has a better serve than Sinner.
In a video on Instagram, the Frenchman pointed to the consistency of Alcaraz’s serve and explained how their techniques differ.
“Both of their serves are good,” said Mouratoglou. “I would say that Carlos’ serve is a bit better, even though Jannik’s serve is good. Carlos is way shorter than Jannik and is more consistent with the serve.
“I would say that one reason for that, is that if you look at him while they’re both hitting the ball, the upper body of Jannik is going a little bit down, while Carlos’ stays completely straight and just the arm and only the arm passes, which gives him more stability during the shot and as a consequence, more consistency.”
How do Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner’s serving stats in 2025 compare?

Sinner is better in five serving statistics, with Alcaraz only having an edge in terms of first serve percentage.
As a result this gives Sinner a higher serve rating, which adds all the numbers up and takes away the average number of double faults per match.

They have both had very different weeks, with Alcaraz withdrawing from the Shanghai Masters, while Sinner retired with cramp.
The next time they will be at the same event is the Six Kings Slam, where Alcaraz has confirmed he will be playing after an injury scare.
