Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have both added to their already sizeable trophy cabinets during the Asian Swing.

In a Laver Cup rematch, Alcaraz defeated Taylor Fritz in the final of the Japan Open to clinch the trophy on his debut in Tokyo.

In the China Open final, Sinner dominated Learner Tien in straight sets to emerge victorious, adding to his hard-court silverware collection.

The ‘new two’ continue to dominate men’s tennis, and Serena Williams‘ former coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, thinks there is something they do differently to every other ATP player.

Patrick Mouratoglou analyses Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz

In a post on Instagram, Mouratoglou said: “Alcaraz just won Tokyo, Sinner just won Beijing, both won an ATP 500. Another trophy this year. The quality is still insane, and the level of confidence of those two guys is unbelievable.

“Deep inside there is a voice telling them I’m gonna find a way to win even when Sinner lost a set to de Minaur, you know or you could feel that he knew deep inside he will find a way to win and even though de Minaur played an incredible match, he made him crack at the end.

“Alcaraz is a genius of the game. He has everything, can do anything on a tennis court. He won this final against Fritz in the last game when he felt the tension, he just threw three unbelievable drop shots.

“I see their level of confidence when it comes to the big moments. They raise their level where everybody drops their level. I don’t know if they’re going to play every single tournament before the end of this year, but if they play, they will win.”

The titles won by Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner this year

Alcaraz has added eight titles to his career tally in 2025, including two Grand Slam championships at Roland Garros and the US Open.

The Spaniard has triumphed at three ATP Masters 1000 events this season in Monte-Carlo, Rome, and Cincinnati.

Sinner, on the other hand, has claimed three tour-level titles this year, the first of which came at the Australian Open before his three months suspension.

He then became the first Italian to win a Wimbledon singles title in the summer, and picked up crown number three in Beijing.
