Jannik Sinner’s pursuit of a successful US Open title defence came to an end when faced with a red-hot Carlos Alcaraz in the final.
In the third Grand Slam championship match between the two stars this year, Sinner lost to Alcaraz in four sets at Flushing Meadows, as the Spaniard claimed his sixth major crown.
The Italian has also now fallen to second in the world rankings, with his reign at the top ending after nearly 15 months.
A day after his defeat, Sinner took to social media to send a message to his New York conqueror.
