Novak Djokovic looks to be back to his best at the French Open and will play Cam Norrie for a place in the quarter-finals.

The Serb’s improved form in Paris comes after he won his 100th career title at the Geneva Open, where Djokovic defeated Hubert Hurkacz in the final to achieve the feat.

His appearance in the Swiss city marked his first tournament since parting ways with Andy Murray, who coached him from January this year.

Since ending the professional relationship with his former rival, Djokovic teamed up with Dusan Vemic, who had previously coached the 24-time Grand Slam champion from 2011 to 2013, and in 2016.

Before his match with Norrie, Djokovic took a moment to acknowledge his time with Murray and gave an update on his current coaching situation.

Novak Djokovic gives an update on his current coaching situation

Speaking on TNT Sports, Djokovic said: “I’m not really currently actively looking for someone new.

“I enjoyed my player/coach relationship with Andy Murray for the duration of five months. But I just kind of go with the flow at the moment.

“I will see what I need and if I need anyone. Dusan and I are long time friends, he has been my coach for years back in 2009, 10, 11, 12 and 13.

“He was coaching me next to Marian Vajda, so he knows my game well and most of all, what is important for me now, he knows me as a person and what I need to feel emotionally at peace and ease and balance, so that I am able to enjoy my time on and off the court.

“It has been working well. We won Geneva, the week before the French, and I have been playing well here. I feel as close to my best tennis, playing so far in this tournament.”

Novak Djokovic’s record with Andy Murray as his coach

Murray officially became Djokovic’s coach in January 2025, and the two had their first tournament together at the Australian Open.

The duo got off to a hot start, as the former world number one made the semi-final of the first major of the year, but ultimately had to retire due to injury in his semi-final clash with Alexander Zverev.

Things went south in the following two tournaments, when Djokovic crashed out in his opening matches at the Qatar Open and the Indian Wells Open.

Murray and Djokovic made their way to the Miami Open final together, but fell to Jakub Mensik in straight sets.

After two early exits at the Monte-Carlo Masters and the Madrid Open, the two called it a day on their partnership.
