Novak Djokovic’s tumultuous 2025 season has taken another turn ahead of the Geneva Open.
The Serbian legend made a big coaching move ahead of the 2025 season, when Djokovic hired Andy Murray as his coach.
They failed to win a title together, but Djokovic did reach the semi-finals of the Australian Open and the final of the Miami Open with Murray by his side.

After two disappointing clay-court defeats, Murray and Djokovic parted ways, leaving the 37-year-old without a coach for the second Grand Slam of the year.
Ahead of his return to action at the Geneva Open, Djokovic has revealed his coaching plans for the coming months.
Novak Djokovic will be joined by Dusan Vemic at the Geneva Open and French Open
During his Geneva Open press conference, Djokovic shared who he plans to work with during his next two ATP tournaments.

“At the moment, I am not looking for a coach,” he said.
“Dusan Vemic will be part of my team in Geneva and at Roland Garros,” said Djokovic.
Dusan Vemic competed as a professional for over a decade, reaching a career high ranking of 146th in the world, qualifying for the main draw of a Grand Slam once, at the French Open in 2007.

Since retiring from tennis in 2011, Vemic has worked with several ATP and WTA players, including his fellow Serb, Djokovic.
- Andrea Petkovic (2011)
- Novak Djokovic (2011-2013, 2016)
- Serbian Davis Cup/Olympic team (2013-2016)
- Mike Bryan/Bob Bryan (2016-2017)
- Brandon Nakashima (2020-2022)
Working as a member of Djokovic’s team, Vemic won three Grand Slam titles, the ATP Finals, and the Miami Open, showcasing his coaching talents.
| Tournament | Final opponent | Score |
| 2016 Miami Open | Kei Nishikori | 6-3, 6-3 |
| 2013 Australian Open | Andy Murray | 6-7, 7-6, 6-3, 6-2 |
| 2012 ATP Finals | Roger Federer | 7-6, 7-5 |
| 2012 Australian Open | Rafael Nadal | 5-7, 6-4, 6-2, 6-7, 7-5 |
| 2011 US Open | Rafael Nadal | 6-2, 6-4, 6-7, 6-1 |
Only time will tell if Vemic can add another title to his resume when Djokovic takes to the court in Geneva and Paris.
Can Dusan Vemic guide Novak Djokovic to his 100th career title at the Geneva Open
Since winning title number 99 at the Olympic Games in 2024, Djokovic has been desperately searching for his 100th win.
He’ll be in with a good shot of securing his 100th title in Geneva, an event he’ll enter as the number two seed.
Top eight seeds at the 2025 Geneva Open
- 1. Taylor Fritz
- 2. Novak Djokovic
- 3. Tomas Machac
- 4. Karen Khachanov
- 5. Alexei Popyrin
- 6. Hubert Hurkacz
- 7. Alex Michelsen
- 8. Matteo Arnaldi
Djokovic will take on Hungary’s Marton Fucsovics in his opening match, who he is undefeated against on the ATP Tour (5-0).
Things could then get tricky, however, as a quarterfinal clash with Matteo Arnaldi could await him, should the Italian advance past Fabian Marozsan.
Arnaldi beat Djokovic last time out at the Madrid Open, easing past the Serb, 6-3, 6-4, at the Madrid Open.
Tomas Machac and Taylor Fritz would be Djokovic’s most likely semi-final and final opponents, if he were to make it that far.
Djokovic lost to Machac in last year’s Geneva Open semi-finals, a result he’d no doubt love to avoid repeating this time around.
It won’t be easy for Djokovic, who has yet to secure a single win on clay this year, but perhaps these challenges are just what he needs ahead of the French Open.
Djokovic will take on Fucsovics in his opening match at the Geneva Open on Wednesday, May 21.
