Nick Kyrgios is back in action at the Miami Open, where the ATP Tour icon has just secured a second round spot.
Kyrgios trained with a fan ahead of the 2025 Miami Open, before beating Mackenzie McDonald in his first match.
The former ATP number 13 secured a fine comeback win over the American, with Kyrgios winning 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
He now meets 22nd seed Karen Khachanov in the second round, having retired hurt during his most recent event.
After losing in the first round of the Australian Open, he was forced to withdraw during his Indian Wells meeting with Botic van de Zandschulp.

Nick Kyrgios says Miami Open should be the fifth Grand Slam
Kyrgios underwent wrist surgery towards the end of 2023, with the issue resurfacing in the desert earlier this month.
But he is now back to winning ways, with the seven-time ATP champion sharing his love for the Miami Open with Tennis Channel after his latest victory.

“The fans are so interactive here,” said Kyrgios. “This should be the fifth Slam, let’s put that to bed right now. This is by far the best Masters event in the world. It’s not even close. There is so much to do in Miami.
“I am not going to lie, I did prefer Crandon Park better. This is alright but Crandon Park had a buzz about it, I think no other tournament had.
“But there is a lot of things to do outside of the tennis courts in Miami, things get a bit cheeky out there! There are some great food spots and it’s amazing.”
Nick Kyrgios grateful for Kei Nishikori after he withdraws from Miami Open
The Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open are, of course, the four Grand Slam tournaments.
It remains to be seen if they will be joined by another in the future, with Indian Wells perhaps leading the way.

The ATP Masters 1000 and WTA 1000 tournament is a firm favourite on the calendar, forming one-half of the Sunshine Double with the Miami Open, with the latter moving from Crandon Park to Miami Gardens in 2019.
But it hasn’t all been happy news for Kyrgios this time around, having witnessed his fellow Grand Slam finalist Kei Nishikori withdraw from Miami at the last minute.
“Unfortunately I have to pull out of the Miami Open today,” Nishikori wrote on X. “My body has not recovered enough from the matches last week. I will now go home and get ready for the clay court season.”
Reacting to the 2014 US Open finalist, 2022 Wimbledon finalist Kyrgios wrote: “We are just blessed to still have you.”
