Mirra Andreeva is still looking for ways to improve her game by taking inspiration from Grand Slam champions.
Andreeva won Indian Wells last month, backing up her maiden WTA 1000 title victory at the Dubai Tennis Championships.
This enabled the teenager to climb into the top 10, but Andreeva has only won two matches since then.
Now Andreeva, who is coached by Conchita Martinez, will look to return to form at the tournament where it all started for her two years ago.

Mirra Andreeva says what shots she would take from Roger Federer and Carlos Alcaraz
Ahead of the 2025 Madrid Open, Andreeva was asked in her press conference about what shot she would want to take from another players game.
In her answer, Andreeva turned to the ATP Tour and picked attributes from both Roger Federer and Carlos Alcaraz.
Andreeva chose both players’ drop shots, as well as the physical abilities of Monte Carlo Masters champion Alcaraz.
“Can I choose from the men’s circuit?” questioned Andreeva. “In that case, I would go for Federer’s drop shot and the physical abilities of Carlos Alcaraz.
“I would like to have his [Alcaraz] skill for drop shots. In fact, I try to do it by watching his matches on TV and then trying to imitate him in my own games. When I was younger, I used to hit drop shots; it’s a very effective weapon, but it depends a lot on the feel you have with the ball on that day.”

Alcaraz’s drop shot is particularly effective on natural surfaces, which has enabled him to win both Roland Garros and Wimbledon.
While she is hoping to improve her drop shot, Andreeva’s best shot is a specific backhand that she used to great effect on her winning run last month.
Mirra Andreeva’s potential draw at the Madrid Open
Andreeva arrived on the scene in Madrid in 2023, reaching the fourth round when she was just 16-years-old.
The Russian improved on that last year by reaching the quarter-finals, and Andreeva will now be hoping to continue that trajectory.
After receiving a bye to the second round as the seventh seed, Andreeva will play Marie Bouzkova.
If she is to match her run to the quarter-finals like last year, Andreeva could play world number four Coco Gauff.
Andreeva could then play the likes of Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka, both players who she has recently beaten.
