Jannik Sinner has maintained his position at the top of men’s tennis after winning the 2024 US Open.
The Italian overcame home favourite Taylor Fritz in straight sets in the US Open final at Flushing Meadows in New York.
Sinner is set to hire a new trainer after his victory, as he looks to continue a superb year that now includes two Grand Slam wins.
He unsurprisingly keeps his place at the top of the ATP Tour rankings, with Alexander Zverev moving into second place.
The Italian has inspired many this year, with fellow US Open finalist Jessica Pegula trying to replicate Sinner on the court.

Matteo Berrettini wants to ‘steal’ one element of Jannik Sinner’s game
And there is now another star who dreams of emulating Sinner, with fellow Italian Matteo Berrettini full of praise for his compatriot after his US Open success.
“From Jannik I would steal his dedication to work and the ability to always want to improve,” Berrettini told Sky Sports Italy. “He arrived at the tennis elite at a very young age and has never stopped.
“Listening to him, he is always oriented towards the future, this is an ability that the greats have. I am trying to do the same, finding important stimuli and the joy in improving.”
Jannik Sinner boasts perfect record versus Matteo Berrettini
Berrettini witnessed the full force of Sinner up close at Wimbledon earlier this summer, with the Italian stars going head-to-head at SW19.
And it was the younger of the duo who emerged victorious, with Sinner beating Berrettini in their second round clash.
But it was by no means a straightforward match for the 23-year-old, who was pressed hard by the 28-year-old before eventually grinding out a 7-6(7-3), 7-6(7-4), 2-6, 7-6(7-4) win.
Sinner now has a 2-0 head-to-head record over Berrettini, having also beaten his compatriot at the ATP Masters 1000 Canada last year.
Matteo Berrettini delighted with Wimbledon display vs Jannik Sinner
Berrettini, who is currently playing for Italy at the Davis Cup, is 43rd in the latest rankings, with ATP wins at Marrakech, Gstaad and Kitzbuhel this year.
He fell to eventual runner-up Fritz in the second round of the US Open, but is full of confidence from that Wimbledon display against Sinner.
“At Wimbledon it was a special match because I felt I was back at that level, something I had asked myself in the difficult months,” said Berrettini. “That match gave me a big push, after that I won two tournaments.
“Seeing Jannik so high is surprising up to a certain point, his path has always been clear. Now he is the strongest of all.”
Sinner is taking a well-earned rest following his US Open win, with the Italian not involved with his nation at the Davis Cup this week.
