Jessica Pegula will make her first-ever Grand Slam semi-final appearance after beating Iga Swiatek at the US Open.
Swiatek made too many mistakes against Pegula, with the latter winning their US Open quarter-final match 6-2, 6-4.
Pegula now faces Karolina Muchova in the semi-finals, with Arthur Ashe Stadium also hosting that exciting match-up.
The sixth seed has been really enjoying the US Open so far, but not just the women’s singles, with Pegula thrilled that an American can win the men’s title.
Frances Tiafoe and Taylor Fritz meet in the men’s singles semi-finals at Flushing Meadows, with the winner set to take on either Jannik Sinner or Jack Draper.

Jessica Pegula wants to replicate Jannik Sinner
The men’s world number one is certainly someone that Pegula has taken inspiration from, having name-dropped the Italian in her quarter-final press conference.
“It’s getting in and out of the corners faster and being able to hit better shots from the corners, instead of getting behind in the point if I am stretched,” said Pegula.

“I have done a better job of neutralising the point or being able to run out to my forehand and get a really good hit on it, and not lose that positioning on the court.
“I think the same thing on my backhand as well. Slicing a bit better on the run. I am able to keep my court positioning even though I might be off the court.
“You see someone like a Sinner, it’s a crazy level the way he’s doing it, but I have started to do that a bit better.”
Jessica Pegula says women’s tennis is more entertaining than men’s
Sinner is on track for a second Grand Slam title of the year, having clinched his maiden major title at the 2024 Australian Open.
He is certainly the favourite to lift the trophy in New York, with both Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic out of the tournament.

Pegula will likely be checking in on Sinner’s upcoming meeting with Draper, along with the all-American clash between Tiafoe and Fritz.
However, having played on the WTA Tour and watched a lot of ATP Tour matches, Pegula says women’s tennis is more entertaining than men’s.
An American will also play for the women’s title in Queens, with Emma Navarro taking on Aryna Sabalenka in the other semi-final.
