Madison Keys has extended her Grand Slam winning streak after reaching the French Open quarter-finals.

Keys beat compatriot Hailey Baptiste in straight sets to reach the quarter-finals of the French Open for just the third time in her career.

The American is now on an 11-match winning streak at Grand Slams, with Keys continuing on from her Australian Open win.

Keys is coached by her husband Bjorn Fratangelo, and while things appear to be going well on the court she has now explained whether she would fire him.

Madison Keys reveals whether she would ever fire her husband as her tennis coach

Fratangelo is a former player himself and has coached Keys since June 2023, helping his wife to win her maiden Grand Slam title earlier this year.

Despite winning her major title on hard courts, Fratangelo believes clay is Keys’ best surface and she is now just three wins away from winning the French Open.

After Keys beat Baptiste to reach the quarter-finals, she was asked on the TNT Sports desk at the French Open about whether she would ever fire her husband as her tennis coach.

While suggesting that he can sometimes frustrate her with some of his unfiltered comments, Keys admitted she could not fire him.

“He is definitely unfireable!” said Keys. “I think he toes the line sometimes. But there are definitely times where he will say something and I just glare at him and he just laughs because he knows.

“But as I am sure you all know Bjorn quite well, he does not really hold back. He says what he thinks and what he feels.

“And you kind of know what he is thinking at all moments, he doesn’t really have much of a filter. In a lot of ways that is great, sometimes when you are down in the third it’s not really what you want to hear. But sometimes it’s what you need to hear.”

How has Madison Keys performed since her husband began coaching her?

When Fratangelo began coaching Keys in June 2023, they actually won their first tournament together at the Eastbourne International.

Keys has lifted four titles in the period since then, including the Australian Open, and has also won a tournament on every surface.

The 30-year-old has particularly excelled at Grand Slam tournaments, reaching at least the quarter-finals at four of the seven majors she has played since June 2023.

Keys has particularly improved in 2025, already winning more matches this year than she did in the whole of last year.

The world number eight will face another one of her compatriots in the French Open quarter-finals, with Keys playing Coco Gauff.

This will be a sixth meeting between Keys and Gauff, with the former leading the head-to-head after winning three of their previous matches.
