Madison Keys has continued her strong run at the French Open by beating Hailey Baptiste in the fourth round.

Keys praised Baptiste ahead of their meeting at the French Open in Paris, which the seventh seed won 6-3, 7-5.

The WTA number eight now has 11 consecutive Grand Slam match wins to her name, having won the Australian Open earlier this year.

And after defeating her compatriot Baptiste, Keys now takes on another American in Coco Gauff in the quarter-finals.

Gauff is into a fifth consecutive Roland Garros quarter-final, but Keys has reached the stage for the first time since 2019.

Rennae Stubbs notices Madison Keys change after French Open win vs Hailey Baptiste

The latter has now won three successive matches against Baptiste, who won their first meeting on the WTA Tour.

Sharing her verdict on the Australian Open champion in her latest match in Paris, former player Rennae Stubbs wrote on X: “Madison’s composure wins her so many matches these days. She would have lost this set by now a few years ago.

“Unbelievable FHs in that last game. And Hailey’s lack of focus in the big moments are showing now. Bad shot selections from her.”

Madison Keys emulates Serena Williams after reaching French Open quarter-finals

Ex-professional Stubbs also praised 23-year-old Baptiste, who currently occupies 70th place in the WTA Tour rankings.

She wrote on X: “Hailey has always had the talent. It was only a matter of time. She just had to believe in herself more and put the work in. Great to see her doing well. This one is getting interesting now.”

But 30-year-old Keys used her experience and skill to emerge victorious, with the win helping her follow in the footsteps of legendary figure Serena Williams.

As per OptaAce, she is the oldest American woman to reach the Australian Open and French Open quarter-finals in a single season since Williams in 2016.

Emulating such an iconic figure should give Keys plenty of confidence going forward, which she will undoubtedly need against Gauff.

Another all-American affair is now set for the French capital, with second seed Gauff having beaten Ekaterina Alexandrova in straight sets in their fourth round tie.
