Coco Gauff is in pursuit of her second Grand Slam title at Roland Garros and hasn’t dropped a set in Paris yet.

Gauff triumphed over Marie Bouzkova following a second-set tiebreak to book her place in the round of 16 of the French Open for the fifth consecutive year in singles.

Her next opponent is Ekaterina Alexandrova, who she leads in the head-to-head by three wins to one.

Should she advance past Alexandrova, Gauff could potentially meet Madison Keys in the quarter-finals, in a matchup that tennis legend Andy Roddick and American sports journalist Jon Wertheim think could cause the 21-year-old some big problems.

Coco Gauff given warning ahead of match with Madison Keys

On the Served Podcast, Wertheim said: “I have got to tell you because it’s really intriguing. Coco has had a few of these patches, including one against Bouzkova today, where the game just goes off.

“To her great credit, she figures out a way back onto the path, but if Madi [Keys] picks apart that forehand or takes advantage of one of these walkabouts or these lapses or Coco’s serve isn’t clicking, then Madi has a real chance here.

“I think I am going to my first switch. I am thinking Keys [to win].”

Roddick replied: “I don’t disagree. I think this is one of the ones where Madi seemed to have a tough draw. I was really worried about that Kenin match. She came through that, but it was more just you like Gauff’s draw.

“I am not flipping, but I do think that match is popcorn. I’m not going to reverse my call. I still have Coco in the final.”

Coco Gauff’s head-to-head record against Madison Keys ahead of potential clash at Roland Garros

An all-American affair in the quarter-finals of the French Open between Gauff and Keys would mark their sixth meeting overall, and second at a Grand Slam.

Their first bout came at the Adelaide International in 2022, where Keys took the win over three sets.

Gauff got one back at the US Open that year, where she earned a dominant victory over her compatriot 6-2, 6-3, to advance to the last 16 of the major.

Following their meeting at the Dubai Tennis Championships in 2023, where Keys lost, the 30-year-old has won the last two matches in the rivalry.

With the head-to-head 3-2 in favour of Keys, Gauff has the chance to tie things up as both players continue their search for a maiden Roland Garros crown.
