The reaction to Jannik Sinner accepting a three month ban continues with Jessica Pegula the latest player to have their say.

Sinner will be banned until May 4, after settling an appeal with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) who were originally seeking a ban of between one and two years.

This has prompted a huge response across the tennis world, with Nick Kyrgios continuing to be outspoken against Sinner.

Kyrgios is not the only player to have their say on the announcement, with Carlos Alcaraz also reacting to Sinner’s ban.

Not all of the top players have personally commented on the situation, but Novak Djokovic’s organization have responded to Sinner’s news.

Now Pegula has commented on the situation and criticized the current system with some strong words.

Jessica Pegula slams system after Jannik Sinner receives three month ban

Stan Wawrinka cast doubt over the current anti-doping system in his immediate response to Sinner’s ban, admitting that he did not believe in a clean sport anymore.

While Pegula has not criticized Sinner personally, she also believes that something needs to change and says that no players trust the current process.

“If you’re clean or not, the process is completely broken,” Pegula said in her pre-tournament press conference in Dubai. “I think it needs to be seriously looked at and considered.

“I feel like they have so much power to ruin someone’s career, as well. I think there needs to be something done about that because it just seems really unfair.

“I don’t think any of the players trust the process at all right now. Zero. It’s just a horrible look for the sport.”

Serena Williams’ former coach reacts to Jannik Sinner’s ban

Sinner initially tested positive for the banned substance clostebol at Indian Wells last year, and did so again eight days later.

However, the world number one was cleared of any wrongdoing by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) on the grounds of contamination and was able to continue playing.

WADA went onto appeal the ITIA’s ruling, which has led to Sinner receiving this ban that will see him miss the sunshine double of Indian Wells and the Miami Open, amongst other tournaments.

While there has been a lot of criticism for Sinner and this ruling, the former coach of Serena Williams, Rick Macci, has shown his support to the Australian Open champion.

“It is not one size fits all,” Macci said on X (formerly known as Twitter). “No matter what Sinner received as a ban players and media will chirp and burp. Not enough. Not fair Not at all. Not right. Not a negotiation. Not now. My take has always been the same. NOT HIS FAULT.”

Sinner cannot return until the Italian Open, at least on the ATP Tour as the 23-year-old is still set to play an exhibition event in that time.
