Jannik Sinner is into the quarter-finals of the Shanghai Masters after enacting revenge on Ben Shelton.

Shelton beat Sinner at the same stage of the Shanghai Masters last year, but the Italian came out on top this time around.

Sinner clinched a record-breaking win over Taro Daniel to kickstart his tournament, and now faces Daniil Medvedev in the quarter-finals.

World number one Sinner then won a ‘tough’ match against Tomas Martin Etcheverry, before knocking out 16th seed Shelton in straight sets.

The Shanghai Masters top seed beat the American 6-4, 7-6(7-1), with the victor now boasting a 4-1 head-to-head record over Shelton.

And that certainly won’t be an easy task, with the Shanghai Masters fifth seed having made it to the quarter-finals thanks to his win over Stefanos Tsitsipas.
