Jannik Sinner says if he’s worried he won’t be fit for China Open final after leg issue emerges vs Alex de Minaur

Jannik Sinner came through his China Open semifinal to set up yet another final clash.

Sinner will play either Learner Tien or Daniil Medvedev and ahead of that last four clash, the two players might have been intrigued watching the Italian in action.

That’s because Sinner didn’t look entirely comfortable towards the end of his match with Alex de Minaur and appeared to be shaking out his leg and grimacing.

Sinner received some praise from Terence Atmane earlier this week, and now all eyes are on his fitness ahead of his latest final.

Sinner has had some fitness issues during his career, but it would take a lot for him not to be able to make the court for a final.

Indeed, it doesn’t feel like he will be pulling out of his final any time soon, with the world number two easing any fears among his fan base over his fitness.

After the match, he was quizzed on his fitness ahead of the final and it would appear that he doesn’t have too many concerns at this stage.

He said during his on-court interview: “Yeah, I mean, I have one night to recover. I’m gonna be fine.

“Finals, you have even more adrenaline. More will to play as best as you can. I’m looking forward to it.

“Finals are very special. Another final for me this season. It’s a great result again. Let’s see who it’s gonna be.”

Sinner will surely claim another title

Sinner has now reached the final at seven of the last eight events that he’s played in and that takes some doing on the ATP Tour.

On this occasion, he won’t come up against Carlos Alcaraz, with the world number one being enticed to play in the Japan Open, where he’s made the final against Taylor Fritz.

Sinner should therefore be the heavy favourite, whether he comes up against Medvedev or Tien in tomorrow’s clash.

The Italian will be desperate to regain his place as the world’s number one player before the season is out and winning tournaments is the best way for him to do that.
