Jannik Sinner was looking to advance to his fourth Grand Slam final of the season.
After Sinner beat his fellow countryman Lorenzo Musetti in the quarterfinals, he took on Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime in the semis.
Dominating the first set 6-1, it looked as though Sinner would make his way through to the US Open final without too much trouble.
That wasn’t the case, however, as the Italian began to struggle with injury in the second, allowing Auger-Aliassime to draw level.
Regaining his composure, Sinner fought through the injury to beat Auger-Aliassime in four sets, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
In the aftermath of his semifinal win, Sinner took to social media to share his thoughts.

Heading over to Instagram, Sinner reacted to his US Open semifinal win.
“Wow, what a night,” he said.
“Really happy to be back in the US Open final.
“Forza!”
Sinner played his first-ever US Open final 12 months ago, facing off against the home-favorite Taylor Fritz.
On that occasion, the world number one was simply too good, as Sinner beat Fritz in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, 7-5.
He may well have a tougher time of things in 2025, however, taking on his biggest rival, Carlos Alcaraz.
The Spaniard has been dominant in New York and will look to become the first player in men’s tennis history to win the US Open without dropping a set on Sunday.

Sinner has been fairly dominant himself, but despite losing fewer games than Alcaraz en route to the final, he has dropped two sets, to Denis Shapovalov in round three and to Auger-Aliassime in the semis.

Only time will tell who will emerge victorious in the final, but you certainly won’t want to miss any of the action.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Alcaraz and Sinner’s sole Grand Slam final defeats came against each other.
With that being true, it’s incredibly hard to predict who will pick up the win when they contest their third major final of the year, at Flushing Meadows.
It’s Alcaraz who leads the head-to-head, though, 9-5, a statistic that could provide him with some extra confidence ahead of the US Open final.
Alcaraz and Sinner will battle it out for the US Open title on Sunday, September 7.
