Jannik Sinner is the King of the ATP Finals once again after he beat Carlos Alcaraz to retain the title that he won in 2024.
Sinner was issued a warning ahead of his match with Alcaraz, but he claimed a 7-6, 7-5 victory in just over two hours to win the title for a second time.
Both Alcaraz and Sinner have joined a legendary list of players with their performances at the ATP Finals, but the wait for a first ATP Finals success goes on for Alcaraz.
Alcaraz felt Sinner was the favourite coming into the clash of the titans, and it proved that way with the Italian taking advantage of the Spaniard, who needed treatment on his leg throughout the match.

Jannik Sinner sends message to Carlos Alcaraz after ATP Finals win
The respect is certainly there between Alcaraz and Sinner, with the pair enjoying a number of superb finals in 2025 and more likely to follow in 2026.
After lifting the trophy, Sinner had some very classy words for Alcaraz, with the player praising the Spaniard for his efforts in the match.
He said during his winner’s speech: “Carlos, amazing season. Amazing what you are doing with the whole team. A lot of work and a lot of great memories you have done again for your brilliant career.
“Well deserved for the number one. We have not spoken yet, but I am extremely happy. If it’s another player than me, I will always choose you. You deserve it.
“You are definitely a player I look up to. A lot of motivation. I need this, every practice session with a big purpose.
“All of the fans here are very happy to see you play. You are the most energetic player on the tour. So keep going. I also wish you the best of luck. I know you have one more tournament to go.
“Best of luck with that after a well-deserved rest. And I hope to see you again next year, with hopefully great battles ahead of us.”
Sinner claims badly needed win against Alcaraz
The Italian has pocketed a cool $5.1 million for his work in Turin and considering he didn’t drop a set, for the second year running at the ATP Finals, he won’t have had an easier payday all year.
Sinner needed this win to make some ground on Alcaraz, who is now the world number one and has had the edge over the player he recently toppled at the summit during 2025.
| Winner | Event | Score |
| Carlos Alcaraz | Rome Masters | 7-6, 6-1 |
| Carlos Alcaraz | French Open | 4-6, 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 7-6 |
| Jannik Sinner | Wimbledon | 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 |
| Carlos Alcaraz | Cincinnati Open | 5-0, RET |
| Carlos Alcaraz | US Open | 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 |
| Jannik Sinner | ATP Finals | 7-6, 7-5 |
For a rivalry to thrive, there needs to be plenty of wins for each party, much like that between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, with Sinner now ending his year on a high.
Alcaraz is down to play at the Davis Cup, which gets underway soon and given that his leg was heavily strapped in this match, it remains to be seen whether or not he actually plays.
