Jannik Sinner is the in-form player as the 2025 campaign draws to a close, with the Italian winning three consecutive tournaments.
The world number two beat Carlos Alcaraz in the final of the ATP Finals, beating the Spaniard in straight sets to get one over the man at the summit of the world rankings.
Sinner said he got lucky against Alcaraz, but there has been nothing fortuitous about his end-of-year form after wins at the Vienna Open and in the Paris Masters.
Jimmy Connors has raved about Sinner’s form at the end of the year, and with the season now at a close, he’s actually showcased that he might have one flaw in his game.

Jannik Sinner says Felix Auger-Aliassime has a better shot than him
Auger-Aliassime finished the year in style and, from nowhere, used a semifinal run at the US Open as a catalyst to enjoy a solid run of form on the Asian and indoor swings.
After the ATP Finals, Sinner was asked to compile a perfect player using only the players who had qualified for the tournament outright, and he raved about Auger-Aliassime.
When it came to choosing the best volleyer on the tour, Sinner picked Auger-Aliassime – or Lorenzo Musetti – and made an intriguing claim.
He said on Instagram: “Felix is good, or Lorenzo, either way, it’s better than me!”

How Jannik Sinner compares to Felix Auger-Aliassime at the net
Weirdly, Auger-Aliassime trails Sinner when it comes to statistics in terms of points won in 2025 at the net.
Sinner is hardly renowned for being a serve-and-volley expert and although he clearly doesn’t rate his own volleying, it appears he’s better at it than he cares to give himself credit for.
Sinner has a win percentage of points at the net of 74.3%, which is the fifth highest on the list of all players on the ATP Tour.
Who will win the 2026 Australian Open?
Auger-Aliassime is some way down the list, with a win percentage of 70.9% – which coincidentally is the same as Lorenzo Musetti, according to Tennis Abstract.
When it comes to serving and volleying, Auger-Aliassime is way ahead of Sinner, with 75% of his winners coming using that skill set.
Sinner’s percentage in that sense only stands at 55.6% and clearly, that’s where the Italian feels that Auger-Aliassime deserves to make the cut when it comes to volleying in his perfect player make-up.
