After all, whilst many of the sport’s greatest rivalries may have respected one another, there never seemed to be the kind of friendliness we are seeing today from Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.

Speaking about their rivalry and their relationship, Henman told Sky Sports: “The way these two have emerged and overtaken the group that were [Alexander] Zverev, [Daniil] Medvedev and [Stefanos] Tsitsipas, they’ve established themselves as clearly the two best players and at the age of 22 and 23 they’ve already played each other 15 times.
“Rivalries are so important and on the greatest stage. They’re elevating each other’s game and their relationship is so good. On and off the court they’ve got so much respect for each other, but they are different characters.”
Jimmy Connors has said what men’s tennis now needs to keep competition high, as Alcaraz and Sinner’s domination only seems to grow.

Henman was not the only one to weigh in on this already-iconic match-up, with Laura Robson echoing that sentiment.
In fact, the British pundit outlined what she loved most about the rivalry, stating that she’s excited about what’s to come, given what they’ve already offered the sport.
Robson admitted: “The thing I’m loving the most is how they want to challenge each other at the moment. They want to bring out the best in each other in a way because they know they can’t rest on their laurels. They know the five per cent increases are going to make all the difference and they’re getting better on all surfaces.”
The upcoming Australian Open will be a truly intriguing chapter of this growing story between the two, given Alcaraz has admitted he is aiming to win the career Grand Slam in January.
