Novak Djokovic is one of the greatest players to grace Wimbledon’s Centre Court, winning seven titles in total.

Breaking through in 2011, Djokovic won his first Wimbledon title, defeating Spain’s Rafael Nadal in the final.

Adding two more to his tally in 2014 and 2015, Djokovic established himself as an elite grass-court player.

Taking his game to new heights, Djokovic dominated at the All England Club between 2018 and 2022, winning four straight titles.

Unable to add an eighth title to his collection, Djokovic has fallen short against his younger rivals, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, in 2023, 2024, and now 2025.

Reacting to Djokovic’s defeat to Sinner in the 2025 Wimbledon semifinals, two former American tennis stars have shared whether they believe he could have beaten the younger duo on the grass in his prime.

Jack Sock and Sam Querrey think ‘prime’ Novak Djokovic would beat Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz

During the latest episode of ‘Nothing Major’, Jack Sock and Sam Querrey discussed whether ‘prime’ Djokovic would have the edge over Alcaraz and Sinner at Wimbledon.

“Prime healthy Novak [Djokovic], I would give him the edge at Wimbledon for sure,” said Sock.

“I think so too,” added Querrey.

Querrey, a former Wimbledon semifinalist, proceeded to comment on what he believes happens to Djokovic’s body at the Grand Slam tournaments.

“It’s like his body can go up until like a semifinal at majors, and then it kind of breaks down,” he said.

Querrey’s co-host, John Isner, disagreed as he offered up his theory on why top players have suffered injuries at Wimbledon in 2025.

“I disagree. This was a result of a slip; this was not him coming in tired and haggard and too many miles on his body throughout the course of the tournament,” he said.

“It seems to me that Centre Court, and maybe I’m completely wrong, but it is a bit more slippery than any of the other courts because [Jannik] Sinner, when he did his elbow, was on Centre.”

During his fourth-round clash with Grigor Dimitrov, Sinner fell awkwardly on his elbow, sustaining an injury that troubled him throughout the match.

Just two days later, Djokovic slipped on match point against Flavio Cobolli during their quarterfinal, as Centre Court claimed another victim.

Tournament officials will no doubt hope Sinner and Alcaraz avoid the same fate when they contest the Wimbledon final on Sunday.

Unsurprisingly, it’s Djokovic who has been the most successful at Wimbledon, reaching a century of wins at this year’s tournament.

However, it’s Alcaraz who has the best win %, winning 92% of his matches at the All England Club.

Having won the title on two of his four visits to London, with a final to come on Sunday, the Spaniard has quickly become the best grass-court player around.

If he were to continue at his current rate, there’s no saying how many Wimbledon titles he could win in his career.

Whilst statistically the least successful of the trio, Sinner shouldn’t be discounted, having made vast improvements to his game over the past few years.

The Italian star is a better player on the grass than his record suggests, and is in with a good shout of picking up his first title in 2025.

It remains to be seen whether Alcaraz or Sinner can surpass Djokovic’s career achievements at Wimbledon, but it will certainly be something to look out for in the future.

Sinner and Alcaraz will play each other in the 2025 Wimbledon final on Sunday, July 13.
