Jack Draper was unable to back up his triumph at Indian Wells, losing his only match at the Miami Open to Jakub Mensik.
Draper struggled against Mensik, losing in straight sets to the Czech teenager in their first meeting on the main ATP Tour.
This was the Brit’s first match since becoming a top 10 player, with Draper winning Indian Wells to reach new heights.
While the match was tightly contested, perhaps the biggest talking point came in the second set when the match was disrupted for a decision that the Miami Open were later criticized for.

Jack Draper releases social media statement after Miami Open defeat
Mensik sent a generous message to Draper after beating him, 7-6(2) 7-6(3), in his first main draw appearance at the Miami Open.
The 19-year-old is one of the most promising young talents on the ATP Tour, with Novak Djokovic putting Mensik alongside Carlos Alcaraz already.
Now Draper has released a social media statement of his own, with the world number seven looking ahead to the future.
“Not to be this week but still learning and experiencing new things all the time,” Draper said on Instagram.
“For now it’s time to keep improving for what’s to come. See you next year @miamiopen.”
Overall, it has been a positive sunshine double for Draper, who beat Carlos Alcaraz en route to winning the Indian Wells title.
Where is Jack Draper playing next?
Draper will now have some time away from the matchcourt, before switching his attention to the clay court season.
The 23-year-old only has 130 points to defend throughout the entirety of the clay court swing, meaning that there is a good opportunity for Draper to improve his career-high ranking even further.
First of those chances will come at the Monte Carlo Masters, where Draper has only won one of his three previous matches.
| ATP Tournament | Start Date | Points Defending |
| Monte Carlo Masters | April 6 | 10 (+50 from Munich) |
| Madrid Open | April 23 | 30 |
| Italian Open | May 7 | 30 |
| Roland Garros | May 25 | 10 |
Draper will then play two more Masters 1000 events in Madrid and Rome, before heading to Paris for the second major tournament of the year at Roland Garros.
