Iga Swiatek enjoyed a superb 2025 United Cup, but her search for the trophy continues after the USA beat Poland in the final.
Swiatek reached 10 United Cup singles wins during the event in Australia, helping fire Poland to back-to-back finals.
But they endured back-to-back heartache, with their 2024 United Cup final loss to Germany now followed up by a loss to the USA.
Swiatek looked forward to playing against Gauff, but she just fell short in their singles opener, losing 6-4, 6-4.
Taylor Fritz then beat Hubert Hurkacz to secure the trophy, representing the USA’s second United Cup success.

Iga Swiatek provides fitness update after medical time out vs Coco Gauff
Not only did Swiatek lose to Gauff, she worryingly took a medical time out during the match, having been suffering with a leg injury throughout the tournament.
The Pole has since provided an update, saying in her post-match press conference: “Well, for sure, I wasn’t fresh today, but I’ll be good. So nothing happens.”
Then asked if her treatment was for the same leg as it was against Elena Rybakina in the semi-final, Swiatek replied: “Well, taping wasn’t a different leg, but nothing happened really. Like, I was just tired.
“You know, the volume at the beginning of the tournament especially has been pretty big, so yeah, but honestly, this really, it’s all good.”
And asked if it is just the workload, the former WTA number one and five-time Grand Slam champion responded: “Yeah”.

Swiatek has won all five of her major championship finals so far, one of which came at the 2024 French Open.
She had strapping on her right leg during her quarter-final thriller against Katie Boulter, with their clash having last almost three hours.
Swiatek was critical of the WTA schedule last season, during which she lost her number one ranking to Aryna Sabalenka.
Unlike the Pole, the Belarusian is already off to a winning start in 2025 with her Brisbane International success this week.
