Iga Swiatek comments on possibly facing Coco Gauff in the United Cup final.

The World number two and three have led their respective countries to Sunday’s championship match in Sydney.

This is the ideal preparation for the upcoming Australian Open, a title neither Swiatek or Gauff have managed to win so far.

But facing one another at the United Cup could serve as a preview for what fans could witness in a potential clash at Melbourne Park.

What does Iga Swiatek think about possibly facing Coco Gauff at the United Cup?

Iga Swiatek has faced some stiff competition at the 2025 United Cup.

She came from a set down to beat Great Britain’s Katie Boulter in the quarter-finals, before overcoming Elena Rybakina in the semi-finals.

Now if Poland are to win the United Cup, the 23-year-old will likely have to beat Coco Gauff and though she has plenty of success against her, the American is rapidly improving.

“Against Coco, you know, she’s playing great, I think,” the five time Grand Slam champion told reporters.

“I mean, I haven’t watched, but Coco is, I think at this stage she’s developing every month, and it’s going to be also a nice challenge.”

Iga Swiatek assessed her own game after helping Poland reach United Cup final

Swiatek was keen to try and turn the tables on Rybakina after losing their last meeting at the Stuttgart Open in April 2024.

Rybakina opened up a 5-3 lead in the first set, but Swiatek clawed it back to 5-5 before snatching set one via a tiebreak.

Swiatek took control of the second set by breaking Rybakina at love for a 4-3 lead, and went on to complete a 7-6 6-4 victory.

Post-match Swiatek commented on how she feels about her game as she continues to adjust to life under new coach Wim Fissette.

“I’m happy with my game. I can kind of play without expectations and just push for more as I did today,” she said. “I’ll be happy anyway if I do, like, the same kind of work I did today, like, no matter the result. So I’ll focus on myself.”
