Emma Raducanu certainly has a lot of love for fellow Brit Andy Murray and what he has done with his tennis career.

The former claimed that watching the latter playing at Wimbledon is ‘so special’ as the Grand Slam makes its imminent return.

Raducanu has been preparing for the third Grand Slam of the year by taking part in grass competitions in Nottingham and Eastbourne, and is certainly in fine form.

She has managed to shake off her recent injury concerns, but sadly that has not been the case for Murray.

The two-time Wimbledon champion continues to be impacted by injury, with his participation at the London tournament currently up in the air.

Emma Raducanu makes Andy Murray claim ahead of Wimbledon

Murray is set to retire from the sport later this year, but does plan to play at Wimbledon and the Olympics before calling it a day.

Raducanu has now shared her thoughts on his impending retirement, with the WTA star wanting the ATP ace to keep on going.

“I’m not sure what’s going on with him, because I think the news is also not always accurate, they don’t tell the full story,” Raducanu told Sky Sports. “But I just hope to see him there and healthy.

“I think Andy, from what I know of him and how I know him a little bit, is just he loves tennis, he loves the sport and the challenges that come with it. He doesn’t care about what anyone might think or say about him, he just loves doing what he does.

“I think for him to finally let go of tennis… I just don’t see it happening. But I’d be happy if he played for a very long time to come.

“But physically, it’s obviously such a demanding sport and situation to be in, especially with his surgeries. I want to see him going for as long as possible.”

Can Andy Murray overcome his injury issues in time for Wimbledon?

Murray is undoubtedly in a race against time to be fit for Wimbledon, having needed a procedure after a scan revealed he had a spinal cyst that required some attention.

His private medical details were then leaked, justifiably causing outrage from the player’s mother Judy Murray.

The 37-year-old boasts three Grand Slam titles, with two of those successes coming at Wimbledon, in 2013 and 2016.

He also reached the final of the competition in 2012, losing out to Roger Federer, but the Scot managed to enact immediate revenge against the Swiss by beating him in the 2012 Olympics final.

Murray is clearly a big fan of the All England Club, and will be desperate to go out on a high in what is very likely his final appearance there.

Fans will be hoping the veteran enjoys a lengthy stay in London, with Murray then needing to quickly switch his attentions to Paris for another attempt at Olympics gold.

The Scot remains the only man to win two Olympic singles golds in the sport, clinching success at London 2012 and Rio 2016.
