Dinara Safina left out a big name when predicting who will win the Grand Slam titles in 2025.
In 2024, tennis saw Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner split the majors between them on the ATP Tour, while Aryna Sabalenka claimed half of the Grand Slams on offer on the women’s circuit.
One of other WTA Tour Grand Slam winners on tour this year is Iga Swiatek, who won her third successive French Open title and fourth in five years.
Swiatek has once again established her prowess on clay, losing just two matches on the surface in 2024. But Safina, a former World number one, thinks there will be a new champion at Roland Garros next season.
Who has Dinara Safina predicted to win the Grand Slams in 2025?
Fans are eager to see who will triumph at the Grand Slams in 2025. They will not have to wait long for the action to commence, with the Australian Open set to get underway in January.
Sinner and Sabalenka will enter that tournament as the players to beat after lifting the title at Melbourne Park in 2024.
Following the year they went on to have it comes as no surprise that Dinara Safina thinks they will emerge victorious in 2025.
But when predicting her winners for the other titles, there was no mention of Swiatek, who is aiming for her sixth Grand Slam title and fifth at the French Open.
“Australia – Sinner and Sabalenka. Roland Garros – Zverev and, let’s say, Muchova. I don’t think Swiatek will win a Slam on clay next year,” she told Championat.
“Wimbledon – Alcaraz or Daniil Medvedev for men, Rybakina for women. US Open – for men Medvedev or Rublev, women Sabalenka again.”

What were Iga Swiatek’s Grand Slam results in 2024?
Aside from her French Open victory, Swiatek’s 2024 Grand Slam results were somewhat average.
At the Australian Open, she reached the third round after overcoming Danielle Collins in round two. But after going up a set against Linda Nosková, Swiatek lost 6-3, 3-6, 4-6.
Swiatek was a game away from losing to Naomi Osaka in round two of the French Open, but rallied to secure a dramatic victory. After that scare, Swiatek did not look back and stormed to the title.
The Pole has struggled at Wimbledon and that did not change this season as Yulia Putintseva ended her campaign in the third round.
Swiatek was looking good at the US Open and reached the quarter-finals without dropping a set, but Jessica Pegula, who was cheered on by the home crowd, sealed a 6-2, 6-4 win to reach the semi-final of a major for the first time.
