Jack Draper has stormed into the fourth round of the French Open, having knocked out Joao Fonseca in round three.
Draper, the fifth seed at the French Open, now meets Alexander Bublik after defeating Fonseca 6-2, 6-4, 6-2.
Fonseca was praised by Draper after their match, with the Brazilian having reached that stage after wins over 30th seed Hubert Hurkacz and Pierre-Hugues Herbert.
The 18-year-old had not dropped a set en route to reaching the third round of a Grand Slam for the first time in his career.
But ATP number five Draper proved too strong for the teenager, with the Briton reaching the fourth round of the French Open for the first time.

Joao Fonseca leaves Brad Gilbert confused in French Open loss to Jack Draper
Among those sharing their thoughts on the entertaining encounter in Paris was a former coach of WTA star Coco Gauff.
Taking to X, Brad Gilbert wrote in his own true style: “Madman Draper using excellent mix of patience and variety of shot and fearhand down the line doing major damage to Funseca, not sure why Funseca has moved back on return serve especially the 2nd and needs more willingness to play defense, can’t just win with offense.”
Gilbert was then asked if Fonseca really has the movement for such an approach right now, to which he replied: “Definitely needs to improve his defense.”
Jack Draper produces French Open serving masterclass vs Joao Fonseca
Fonseca may be disappointed with the scoreline from his meeting with Draper, but he is, of course, still very much in the early stages of his career.
He will learn a valuable lesson from the match, and will undoubtedly come up against the Briton many more times in the near future.
This time around, however, Draper was simply too powerful for Fonseca, with the left-hander’s physicality coming to the fore.
He now boasts a 25-6 win-loss record for the 2025 season, with his clay game having really improved in recent times.
| Joao Fonseca | Stat | Jack Draper |
| 6 | Aces | 8 |
| 0 | Double faults | 4 |
| 71% (60/84) | 1st serve | 59% (40/68) |
| 63% (38/60) | 1st serve points won | 93% (37/40) |
| 33% (8/24) | 2nd serve points won | 54% (15/28) |
| 55% (6/11) | Break points saved | 100% (2/2) |
Another Fonseca upset was certainly on the cards on Court Suzanne-Lenglen, but the Brazilian lost after just one hour and 49 minutes.
He does, however, leave the Grand Slam up 10 places in the PIF ATP Live Rankings at number 55, with his stock rising higher and higher as the season goes on.
