Casper Ruud has decided who he thinks had the best season between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.

The two young players firmly established themselves as the best players in men’s tennis in 2024, especially following their success at grand Slam level.

Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz split the Grand Slams between them this past season and took their head-to-head rivalry to another level with three compelling matches.

Despite being the top two performing players over the last 12 months, one certainly had a better season than the other.

Does Casper Ruud think Jannik Sinner or Carlos Alcaraz had the better 2024 season?

Casper Ruud was one of many players who faced both Sinner and Alcaraz in 2024.

The Norwegian faced the World number one at the ATP Finals and won just three games as Sinner went on to win the title.

At the same event Ruud beat Alcaraz 6-1 7-5 to secure his first career victory against the reigning French Open and Wimbledon champion.

Ahead of his competing at the United Cup, Ruud took some time to reflect on Sinner and Alcaraz’s respective seasons, and say he thought was more solid throughout 2024.

“If you look at the players, in my eyes Jannik and Carlos had two phenomenal years, both of them,” Ruud told reporters.

“Jannik maybe even more so because he was so steady throughout the whole year, but Carlos still won two slams and a 1000. Those two are what most people are looking to and referring to these days.”

Comparing Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz’s 2024 seasons

Sinner and Alcaraz both recorded some special accomplishments in 2024.

The Spaniard successfully defended the Indian Wells title and went on to win the French Open for the first time before successfully defending the Wimbledon title, once again beating Novak Djokovic in the final.

After coming up short in the Olympic gold medal match against Djokovic. Alcaraz claimed his fourth and final title of the season in Beijing, defeating Sinner in an epic final.

Though Alcaraz claimed some big titles in 2024, Sinner dominated, winning nine championships, including the Davis Cup.

He won his first major titles at the Australian Open and US Open, and started the season unbeaten before losing to Alcaraz at Indian Wells.

Sinner also claimed championships in Rotterdam, Miami, his first grass court title in Halle, Cincinnati, and Shanghai, before ending his ATP season by winning the season-ending championships in Turin as the World number one.
