Iga Swiatek now faces a race against time to recover for the US Open mixed doubles event after her win in Cincinnati.
Swiatek continued her incredible WTA 1000 record after beating Jasmine Paolini to win the Cincinnati Open for the first time in her career.
This was despite some of the suggestions that Swiatek has been given an unfair advantage in Cincinnati, with the now world number two letting her racket do the talking.
There have been numerous withdrawals from the US Open mixed doubles event, and now Swiatek’s partner Casper Ruud has hinted if they will join that list.

Casper Ruud hints that he will still play mixed doubles with Iga Swiatek at the US Open
Swiatek now has less than 24 hours to travel to New York and get ready for her first match at the US Open mixed doubles event.
Many had expected the Pole to withdraw from the event, something that her opponent Paolini had already done.
However, after Swiatek posted on social media it suggested that she is still planning to show up for the mixed doubles event.
She wrote on Instagram after her Cincinnati victory, “Oh my God, what a tournament…Super proud and happy. Now I’m just trying to make it to my flight so we can see each other at the @usopen tomorrow. I’ll try to reflect later.”
This was only heightened when her doubles partner Ruud responded by saying, “Amazing (trophy, love heart eyes and clapping emojis). See you tomorrow.”

As a result, the US Open mixed doubles draw has some very eye-catching matches, including Swiatek and Ruud.
Despite having never played together before, Swiatek and Ruud are actually the third seeds due to their combined singles rankings.
