Carlos Alcaraz was full of praise for Team Europe Laver Cup captain Bjorn Borg.
The 21-year-old’s busy year continues as he leaves Valencia after representing Spain in the Davis Cup to head to Germany for the Laver Cup.
The upcoming edition of the event will mark the first time that the Spaniard will represent Team Europe in the Laver Cup.
Alcaraz is relishing the chance to compete alongside some of his fellow European players and be led by one of tennis’ greatest players in Bjorn Borg.

Carlos Alcaraz will compete at the Uber Arena in Berlin, Germany in the seventh edition of the Laver Cup.
He will be captained by Borg, who will lead Team Europe for the final time before Yannik Noah takes the reins in 2025.
Ahead of the competition commencing on Friday, Alcaraz shared some kind words about Borg and mentioned his father’s opinion of the Swede.
“[He is] A legend from tennis and from the sport in general. My dad is a huge fan of his as well,” the four-time Grand Slam champion told the Laver Cup website.
“So being, you know, a coach from Bjorn Borg is going to be a really important moment for me, for my career, for my life.”

Alcaraz thoroughly enjoys playing in team events as he illustrated with his performances at the Olympic Games and the Davis Cup this season.
Some fans have criticised the Laver Cup by labelling it as an ‘exhibition’ event, but Alcaraz is treating the Laver Cup very seriously and is eager to help Team Europe regain the trophy.
“I love it and I wanted to be part of it,” he said. “It’s a serious competition. I think we have to represent Europe, you know, in the best way possible.
“The prestige that this tournament has, and being a Laver Cup champion is a huge thing. We are going to laugh a lot, I’m sure about it.”
